For pier construction, we usually recommend a hardwood, though there are some softwoods which can be suitable depending on your requirements. Some of the toughest natural timbers which will handle marine and external threats with ease include:

We also offer treated timbers which are ultra tough, ultra durable and stable. These include ThermoWood, in which the timber is subjected to heat and pressure to increase its durability and stability naturally. Also OrganoWood, in which the timber is impregnated with a natural Silica compound which increases its resistance to rot, infestation and fire.

Our team enjoys every project we work on, but the piers we have helped bring to life are a particularly great source of pride.
We worked on the award-winning Hastings Pier, supplying their construction team with a wide range of FSC-certified Ekki timber products. This included the Ekki decking boards which make up a vast portion of the pier, spanning 11,000m2 using 35x145mm boards, as well as custom-made joists, handrails and steps.
Our team was also proud to supply timber for the historic Victoria Pier in Colwyn Bay. Restoring the original design with a sustainable twist which focused on longevity, we supplied their Trust with durable, FSC-certified Angelim Vermelho decking and supportive joists.
