Decking

Decking is incredibly popular and has a wide range of uses, which is why we are pleased to offer a wide range of environmentally friendly decking options to cater for individual needs. This includes the following:

Hardwood Decking
Not only is FSC® certified hardwood timber decking strong, durable, chemical free and needing minimal care, but is also a naturally beautiful option.

Marine Decking
Marine decking needs to perform under exceptional circumstances. Our durable marine decking is used in piers, docks and a wide variety of sea, river and canal works.

Composite WPC Decking
WPC stands for Wood and Plastic Composites, and is a product that has evolved dramatically in recent years. You probably will have noticed a huge increase in the amount of composite doors out there, and for good reasons – no maintenance, no rot, no cracks to name but a few – and the wood our composite range is FSC certified, whilst the plastic is recycled.

Recycled Plastic Decking
If you are wanting plastic decking rather than timber, but are worried about the environmental implications, then worry no more! Our plastic decking solutions are made from 100% recycled plastic, diverting plastics from landfill and incineration plants.

Decking Joists
Just as important to the success of your decking project as the deck boards are the decking joists – the structure upon which the deck boards are laid. Using high quality timber decking joists are vital to ensuring that your decking lasts for many years and doesn’t start to bend, sag and subsequently begin to rot or even collapse over time.

Decking can be used for a wide range of construction projects, including:

  • Gardens – decking has become an increasingly popular option in private gardens in recent years. Because it is so versatile, decking in gardens can be made to almost any size, design or specification. Because it is raised, then it can create a level surface on even the bumpiest of gardens, allowing people to create beautiful patios where they can sit, entertain, eat and drink or just relax and enjoy their garden, however big or small it may be.
  • Marine – marine decking is ideal for building jetties and piers, and here at EcoChoice we have a lot of experience in providing timber solutions to the marine construction industry
  • Footbridges and walkways – using timber decking for footbridges and walkways is a far more attractive option than concrete and other materials
  • Balcony decking for creating attractive balconies, including on high rise buildings
  • Public spaces such as stations and town centre squares – again, timber is a great alternative to materials like concrete, not only because of its environmental impact but also for aesthetic reasons

The usual section sizes for decking boards are as follows:

Usual section sizes for decking:

Thickness (mm): 19, 21, 28, 45, 70, 90.

Width (mm): 90, 125, 140, 145, 190.

However, we can also offer decking boards in custom sizes and profiles to match your detailed design, so if you are looking for something different then please do not hesitate to contact us on 0345 638 1340.
