We are Cambridge based importers and suppliers of certified sustainable timbers for exterior works. From decking and cladding for residential developments, beams for timber frame buildings all the way to heavy fenders and groynes for civil and marine projects and sleepers for both the landscaping and rail industries.
Our Service
As dedicated importers, we work with forests and sawmills all over the world. That means we can find you the best possible solution to meet your project’s specification: be it budget, lead time and timber characteristics, such as strength and durability. We then deliver your timber directly to site, anywhere in the UK.
Sustainability
As our name suggests, Ecochoice were the pioneers in sustainable tropical timber supply in the UK. 20 years ago, there was sufficient awareness of the dangers of deforestation, especially in tropical areas such as the Amazon, but not enough on the solutions available. Our founder Mike Bekin saw first-hand the wonders that FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) forest concessions were achieving in his native Brazil and decided to promote the link that certified timber actually helps to save forests. It’s been a fun ride ever since!
Our Species
If it’s harvested sustainably we sell it. That includes species from all corners of the world: Ekki, Iroko and Opepe from Africa; Ipe, Greenheart and Cumaru from Brazil; Balau and Meranti from Indonesia; Cedar from Canada; Larch from Siberia, Oak from France, Pine from Sweden, Chestnut from Spain and of course, plenty of home grown timbers too.

Our Products
Timber is probably the most versatile building material – and it’s natural! The sheer range of tree species means there’s a timber for every project. From footpath edging and steps to large footbridges and lock gates, including dozens of profiles for decking and cladding. Beams, sleepers, bollards, fenders, you name it. They’re even building complete skyscrapers completely in wood now, so really, the sky is the limit.
Our Projects
You’ll find our timbers in a wide range of projects – from large sleepers serving the national rail network to sea defence on Bournemouth’s beaches. Fenders on Uber boats decks in London’s Putney as well several rivers and canals. And dozens of cladding and decking projects – both commercial and residential.
