Transport for London (TfL) is spearheading the Silvertown Tunnel project, a critical infrastructure initiative aimed at reducing congestion and improving connectivity in East London. The tunnel, running beneath the River Thames, will provide a vital link between the Greenwich Peninsula and Silvertown, easing the strain on existing river crossings and supporting economic growth in the region. This project underscores TfL’s commitment to enhancing London’s transport network while promoting sustainable development practices.
Riverlinx is a joint venture, a partnership bringing together international, market leading expertise from three civil engineering and construction companies: BAM Nuttall, Ferrovial Construction and SK ecoplant. In 2023, Riverlinx commissioned Ecochoice to manufacture durable hardwood fenders to protect its sheet piling wall, along with custom made panels as capping beams. The project required careful design to the site’s particular contours. Ecochoice suggested delivery of pre-fabricated panels that could be easily assembled on site, providing both safety and speed of installation.
Baraa Sanib, section engineer says “working with Ecochoice was very enriching – from timber specification to detailing panel sizes and joints, to deliveries being on schedule, the whole process flowed smoothly and effortlessly, which is a great thing in any large civil engineering project such as this one”.
