The naturally durable hardwood Ekki is one of our main products, being that it is also one of the hardest and most durable timber species on the planet. This makes Ekki a particular favourite for civil and marine projects such as piers, groynes, railway beams and sleepers, etc.
Coming from FSC® forests in West Africa, Ekki (or Azobe) has a wonderful combination of mechanical properties, density and durability. With a density of 1.2 ton/m3, it is so dense it will sink in water!
Here are some of its natural characteristics:
- Crushing Strength @ 96 MPa
- Static Bending Strength @ 162 MPa
- Modulus of Elasticity @ 21420 MPa
